We are happy to inform you that Software Update Packet SUP 8.0 (ALEXA Classic) is now available for download.
This SUP can be installed on most ALEXA cameras with an SxS Module. This includes ALEXA, ALEXA M, ALEXA Plus, ALEXA Plus 4:3, ALEXA Studio. The software cannot be installed on ALEXA XT cameras, ALEXA Classic cameras that have been upgraded with an XR Module or ALEXA HD cameras!
The new feature of this SUP is the fully integrated communication, camera and lens remote control with ARRI's new Wireless Compact Unit WCU-4. Please note that DNxHD is fully functional in SUP 8.0 (ALEXA Classic). DNxHD is not available in ALEXA XT cameras and ALEXA Classic cameras that have been upgraded with an XR Module as of SUP 8.0 (ALEXA XT/XR), but is planned to be back for those cameras in SUP 9.0 (ALEXA XT/XR).
This document contains a detailed description of the new features and changes, a list of known issues and instructions for upgrading. Please take some time to read through this document to familiarize yourself with everything.

Do not attempt to install this SUP on ALEXA XT cameras or ALEXA Classic cameras that have been upgraded with an XR Module!
ARRI provides two different software versions, one for ALEXA Classic cameras and one for ALEXA XT cameras or ALEXA Classic cameras that have been upgraded with an XR Module. The software packages are distinguished by the file name.
The SUP packages for the classic ALEXA models are named 'SUP_Alexa_[version-number]'. They will only work on ALEXA Classic cameras with an SxS Module.
The SUP packages for ALEXA XT models or ALEXA cameras that were upgraded with an XR Module are named 'SUP_AlexaX_[version-number]'.
We recommend to always update the camera to the release software update package. This ensures that the camera offers the latest improvements, features and fixes for bugs from previous SUP versions.
Do not downgrade from SUP 8.0!
Once a camera has been updated to SUP 8.0, it should not be downgraded to any earlier SUP version! Doing so may cause the camera to get stuck during booting and make it completely inaccessible through the user interface and even over Ethernet. If a camera has been 'bricked', it needs to be sent to an ARRI Service Center.
If you must downgrade a camera from SUP 8.0, please contact an ARRI service center BEFORE doing so and seek assistance.
